I was chatting with my brother the other nite about blogging.
He was lamenting the apparent inability of alpha numeric text to express a snide "mnyaeh" (think melodramatic moustache twirling meets james cagney impersonator).
An emoticon wasn't really going to get it across.
Then, like a bolt from the blue (not really), we came up with an idea we dubbed "emo-tags".
An opening and closing tag ought to do it; just like html/xml entities.
Hence: <snide>mnyaeh</snide>
Emo-tags!
Yeah, language has got to move with the times! I like it!
ReplyDeleteI think we need more of this as we head further into asynchronous communication. We need to be able express what would otherwise be seen in face-to-face communications.
